How to backup your Outlook mailbox

How to backup your Outlook Email by exporting a Personal Folder File (.pst).

1. Launch Outlook


2. Select File > Import and Export



3. The Import and Export Wizard will launch.  Under Choose an action to perform:

  • Select Export to a file
  • Click Next



4. The Export to a file dialog will launch.  Under Create a file of type:

  • Select Personal Folder File (.pst)
  • Click Next



5. The Export Personal Folders dialog will launch.  Under Select the folder to export from:

Highlight Mailbox - Doe, John

6. Check Include Subfolders

7. Save exported file. You may stay with the default location or browse to your desired location.

8. Options: select Replace duplicates with items exported

9. Select Finish



10. Name: Provide a name of your choice.

11. Encryption Setting: Compressible Encryption

12. Password: leave blank.

13. Select OK
