UCLA'S Minimum Security Standards for Campus Computing
Recently Bruintech presented a seminar that reminded all of us, whethere we connect from our desk, home or any networkable device that we are part of UCLA's network.
The seminar underscored basic safety practices such as
-using updated anti-virus software -strong passwords -regularly
updating software patches -wireless security -removing unnecessary
services, -avoiding malware -Unencrypted authentication
-Unauthenticated email relays -Unauthenticated proxy services -physical
security of devices
The consequences ofnot complying with UCLA's
401 minimum security policy may result in the user's disconnection or
having access blocked to the Campus Network until remediation has been
performed.
A podcast of the seminar will be forthcoming and more info can be found at http://www.bruintech.ucla.edu/
